The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) have put together a special exhibit featuring material from Michael Jackson’s patent and trademark applications with the support of the National Inventors Hall of Fame and Museum.
Jackson’s original sketches of the patented “anti-gravity” boot system featured in the “Smooth Criminal” music video will be on display along with all of his registered trademarks, including United States Registration No. 1,908,209, which provides exclusive rights to use the words, “MICHAEL JACKSON,” on, “sound recordings; namely, pre-recorded phonograph records, audio tapes, compact discs, videotapes, and motion picture films featuring music and entertainment.”
The speed with which the exhibit was put together has been unfavorably contrasted with the USPTO’s standard review schedule for patent and trademark examination.
